WHO WE ARE

BCRC is a distinctive, award-winning indoor/outdoor tennis facility nestled on 13 scenic, country acres in the heart of historic Washington Crossing, PA, owned and operated by Al Hernandez and Maria Cane. Established in 1970, we have earned the reputation for hosting one of the friendliest and best-maintained tennis clubs in the area.  Offering open & contract court time, private lessons, daily clinics, in-house & travel leagues, BCRC hits high marks for its amenities, facilities, and service.

All of us here at BCRC love tennis and want to to share our passion while helping students cultivate their skills! Our skilled pro staff insure a consistent and thorough instructional program for students of all levels and our work both on and off court has given us the reputation of being one of the finest teaching academies in the area.

Al Hernandez — Owner and Tennis Director

Over the past 30 years, Al has built an impressive career working with some of the top junior players in Bucks County, PA as a former USPTA-Certified professional. Former students include previous #1 Singles players from Council Rock North & South High Schools, a #2 Women’s Singles player for University of Iowa who was a member of the All Big Ten Women’s Tennis Conference Team, a #1 Men’s singles player for University of Montana, and most recently a #4 Men’s Singles & #1 Doubles player from College of New Jersey 2017. During his long and illustrious playing career, Al has won numerous national tournaments including the Yale Senior Slam Nationals in 2014 and again in 2017. Al has received 5 Gold Balls, 18 Silver Balls & 10 Bronze Balls for National Championship wins.

Todd Dlugosz — Head Pro

Todd joined BCRC’s staff in 1999 and has been playing professionally since 1995. During his early career, he played college tennis for Kutztown University and served as Junior Supervisor for the Nick Bolletteiri Tennis Academy. In 2004 and 2005, Todd won the A Level Volley for SERV Doubles Tournament along with his doubles partner David Mercier. As a former USPTA-Certified professional, he has successfully coached BCRC Adult USTA teams to Districts, as well as BCRC's Junior USTA teams to Sectionals in 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007. Todd served as Junior Tennis Director from 2002-2009, and has been the BCRC Head Pro since 2016.

Jeff Brooks — Staff Professional

Jeff is a certified USPTA Level One Tennis Instructor with over 25 years of experience. As a Division I college player at Towson State University, Jeff captured the ECAC Doubles Championship before embarking upon his teaching career. Notable past endeavors include being a skilled instructor at East Brunswick Racquet Club, the Director of Junior Tennis at Pennsbury Racquet and Athletic Club, and Head Tennis Professional at Nassau Racquet Club. Furthermore, Jeff has coached championship-winning boys and girls high school teams at Immaculata High School, Highland Park High School, Franklin Township High School and Princeton Day School. Currently, Jeff is a Senior Staff Professional at Bucks County Racquet Club in charge of Team Tennis and is our USTA Liaison.

Shana Morris —Staff Professional

Shana has over 10 years experience teaching at BCRC and brings her strong playing background and love of tennis to students of all ages and levels. Shana was a Division II player for East Stroudsburg University and has played USTA competitively at the 4.5+ level for the past 10 years. Shana’s years of experience coaching and teaching as a former USPTA-Certified professional, specifically with 2.5-3.5 USTA teams, makes her a great pro for both beginner and advanced level players looking to perfect their game.

Mike Perrin — Staff Professional

Mike is the third generation of a family of tennis pros. As a young boy, he sat courtside watching his dad coach the tennis team at University of Southern Florida, a top 20 NCAA team. At 12 years old, he began teaching group lessons at the Carrollwood Rec Center in Tampa, Florida. In his teenage years, he started giving private lessons at Philmont Country Club. He has been a tennis pro at Jupiter Bay Tennis Club, The Tennis Club of Palm Beach, Mill Creek Tennis Club, and was the Head Pro and Tennis Director for Sweetwater Highlands Golf and Country Club. His playing career included top 10 junior rankings in Middle States, Division I tennis for the University of Toledo, as well as playing in several prize money and ATP qualifying events.

Chris Miller — Staff Professional

Chris relocated to the United States from England in January 2018 and has been with BCRC since June 2018. He received his teaching certification while in England. Chris has a real passion for tennis and enjoys teaching adults and juniors at all levels so they can play their best tennis. He coached his England’s club men’s team to Runners Up in the County league having previously been in Division 3. Chris has had an exciting playing career including achieving national ranking at a high junior and senior level. He’s played at Wimbledon, Queen’s Club and Eastbourne—all national championship facilities in the UK. He continues to play competitive tennis in the United States and most recently won the 4.5 Mercer County Singles league summer of 2018.

John Wunder — Staff Professional

John is the Founder of Wunder Sports Management and former owner of Hopewell Valley Tennis and Swim Center from 2001 to 2022. He has also managed many tennis facilities, including Burlington Racquet Club, Flemington Racquet Club, Hunterdon Racquet Club, Arrowhead Racquet Club, Ron Jaworski’s Sports World, and Green Acres Country Club. Over the years, he has coached World Ranked and Nationally Ranked players. While at the University of Scranton, he played collegiately and then became the youngest Men’s Tennis coach in the University’s history. He was inducted into the University’s Hall of Fame and was named to the MAC Conference All-Century team.

Allie Armstrong — Staff Professional

Allie has been playing tennis since she was 3 years old with her father, who is also a tennis pro. As a kid, she played at the Elite Academy for many years and has continued to play throughout her life. She worked at Marc Hill Tennis Academy, starting in 2021 until she joined BCRC’s team in December of 2022.

Lucas Levesque — Staff Professional

Lucas took up tennis at the age of five right here at BCRC, playing in group lessons run by current pros Todd, Jeff, and Shana. In progressing his skills, Lucas took lessons with Jeff Brooks and developed a strong foundation for his game as well as a passion for the sport, playing competitively in junior USTA leagues throughout high school and USTA 18+ doubles leagues in and out of undergrad. Lucas joined the BCRC staff in February of 2024 and enjoys coaching children and adults alike.
